STUDIO POLICIES & CLEANING EXPECTATIONS

Studio72 Cleaning Expectations

  • After using a wheel, members must mop / sweep the surrounding areas.

  • Clean up spills as soon as they occur.

  • Wipe tables and surfaces with a CLEAN sponge and CLEAN water.

  • Glaze and wax brushes must be washed immediately after use.

  • Clean, pack up, and put away any tools, supplies, etc. and return them to their correct place. Studio tools must be returned to their place.

  • Keep shelving spaces / cupboards organized, tidy, and clutter free. 

  • If you use red clay, your area should be clean for the next student using white clay and vice versa.

  • No clay in sinks: put slurry in appropriate labeled buckets or the garbage and keep as much clay out of sinks as possible to avoid clogs.

  • Failure to consistently and thoroughly clean up will result in the suspension of your Studio Membership.

Studio72 Policies & Procedures

  • Members are required to use designated storage shelves / cupboards as assigned by the studio technician.

  • All members are required to label and store all personal items including tools, clay, in progress  and completed pieces, etc. on your assigned space ONLY.

  • Only members who have completed an orientation that the technician has signed off on are  permitted to use the facilities. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • Only work made on the premises is acceptable for firing unless otherwise approved by studio technician.

  • Personal glazes, underglazes and slips may be used in the studio. 

  • Do not leave exterior doors propped open.

  • Enter and exit the building through the main entrance only.

  • Note that there are security cameras that monitor all studios.

  • Studio72 is a friendly, welcoming, collaborative environment; treat others with kindness and respect. Bring any matters to the ceramics technician immediately.

  • Members are not permitted to handle / move any work that is not their own. 


    Policy about Guests:

  • We kindly ask that you keep non-member studio visits brief. You are more than welcome to show them around the studio; however, please remember that the studio is not intended for socializing with friends or family.
